A Cavalier King Charles Spaniel whose warm and furry presence, coupled with a joyful personality, helps clients let down their defenses and open their hearts. Douglas is eager to please, affectionate and a happy dog; always seeming to be wagging his tail. His gentle and kind demeanor helps people feel more at ease and settle into their session. Cavaliers are naturally well-behaved and are a true Companion Dog. Whether he is snuggled next to you or making you laugh with his antics, Douglas brings a calm and relaxing space to your counseling experience.
The Cavalier King Charles Spaniel’s history can be traced back to the 17th century, and the times of King Charles I and II of England. These attractive dogs were specifically bred to be companions to the aristocracy, and to keep them warm during the cold winters. They are the quintessential Lap Dog. The King loved them so much, he gave them his name!
Cavalier King Charles Spaniels are the smallest of the Spaniel breed (www.ackcsc.org). Cavaliers love to be with people and actually prefer the company of humans to other dogs. Douglas was bred from a bloodline registered with the American Kennel Club (www.akc.org), ensuring those desirable characteristics and temperament for which the Cavalier is so well known.

“Douglas is such a beautiful dog who is so dear to me and I enjoy having him in my therapy sessions with Vivian. Douglas inspires me with his tenderness and so much love, even when the issues I’m working on with Vivian are very difficult. He gives me so much tranquility and brings out the best of me in each session. I truly think that my therapy would not be the same without Douglas. I love you
baby boy!”
